I, CHARLES ANDREW MUTTON, of No.165 Wancnai koad,

Victoria in the colony of Hong Kong, Master Mariner, do

solemnly anu sincerely declare and say as follows :

1. I am a natural born British subject and have been

resident in the Colony of Hong Kong since the year 1916.

I am able to anu do testify to the facts nereinafter set

forth from my own personal knowledge thereof.

2. I personally know and am well acquainted with Walter

Guthrie Erwin who resides at No.30 Praya East, Victoria

aforesaid. My knowleuse of and acquaintance with the said

Walter Guthrie Erwin extelus over a periou of at least Six

years.

5. There is now prowiced and shown to me une document

constituting the Memorial (respecting his Application for

a certificate of Naturalization as a Subject of the Briti si

Empire) of the said Walter Guthrie Erwin bearing date the

letter "A”. From my knowledge of and acquaintance with the

said Walter Guthrie Erwin I am able to and do say that to
